Booya or burgoo? both stews satisfy!

Article Abstract:

A history is presented of booya and burgoo, two hearty Midwest stews. Burgoo is made with whatever ingredients are readily available. Modern burgoo is usually made with beef, mutton, chicken, potatoes, cabbage, white beans, tomatoes and corn. Burgoo is made almost exclusively in South St. Paul, Minnesota. It consists of beef, chicken, oxtails, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, string beans and rutabagas.

Cincy shows off its grand gardens

Article Abstract:

Gardening is a centuries-old tradition in Cincinnati, OH. The city has 150 parks and is the site of a well-known annual flower show. Procter & Gamble's two-block-long sunken garden is one of Cincinnati's jewels. Spring Grove Cemetery has fourteen lakes and 100 varieties of roses on its grounds.

A superior summer getaway in Michigan's copper country

Article Abstract:

A description of Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula is presented. The region used to be a center of copper mining activity in the 18th century. Abandoned copper mills stand today as a testimony to Keweenaw's past. Its largest community is Houghton with a populatin of 7,500 people.
