Commemorating D-Day: Liberating a continent
Article Abstract:
June 6, 2004 marks the 60th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy, France and on that day, a fleet of over 5,300 vessels landed 175,000 troops on several beaches in the largest amphibious assault in history. Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Utah Beach Monument, National D-Day Museum and National D-Day Memorial remind the future generations of the sacrifices.

Packwood's harem boy: scenes from a sexualized Senate

Bob Packwood resigned in disgrace because of sexual harassment. His obliviousness to changing sexual mores can be attributed to the phenomenon common to most men who gain eminence. Their cognitive faculties cease to develop when they become public figures.

Chatham's Ms. Eelgrass contest

The annual Ms. Eelgrass contest in Chatham, MA, attracts contestants dressed in scallop shells, fishing nets, and other vestiges of sea life, hoping to win the coveted title. Last year's winner called herself 'Scallop O'Hara.'
