Guangdong is turning capitalist as manifest by the economy's 12% annual growth rate. From 1985 to 1991, the province's export figures increased by $11.5 billion, leading the country in industrial development. Completion of a highway linking it with Hong Kong can reinforce Guangdong's export capacity.
