Crispus Attucks is identified as the first person killed in the name of freedom during what has come to be known as The Boston Massacre. The Massacre became a significant event in American history because of its role as a precursor to the American Revolution of 1775.

Thanks, Squanto; a remarkable man rescues the Pilgrims from starvation during their first year in the New World

Article Abstract:

Squanto, an interpreter from the Wampanoag Indian tribe, taught the Pilgrims how to plant crops and catch fish. The Pilgrims held a banquet to give thanks in 1621 and invited the tribe. Thanksgiving became an official holiday in 1863.
