Embryonic stem-cell research

Article Abstract:

Viewpoints both for and against embryonic stem-cell research are presented. Supporters believe that President Bush's decision to fund stem-cell research will lead to treatments and cures for debilitating diseases, while opposers feel that treatments are unlikely to be developed soon and that adult stem cells should be used in research.

US support of condom use

Article Abstract:

The authors discuss whether the US should officially support the use of condoms from opposing standpoints. Weldon opposes the idea because he believes that abstinence should be enforced, while Woolsey supports the idea because she feels it would be unbelievable to do nothing to protect future generations from AIDS.

Should Congress support the president's education program?

Supporters of Pres George Bush's 'America 2000' education program agree that current standards and levels of accountability need to be changed to improve the quality of the education provided. Critics argue that more funding is necessary to provide a stronger base earlier in the education system.
