Article Abstract:
People preparing for a possible crisis emanating from the Y2K bug had usually experienced psychological states ranging from denial, anger, fear, panic and acceptance. It is only upon reaching the last stage that they involve themselves in community-sponsored contingency planning.

Western culture has lost the art of genuine storytelling. Stories have become marketable commodities, not vehicles for building community and sharing wisdom. The use of the Internet to share experiences is one promising sign of change.
