Garden angst

Article Abstract:

A gardener describes the anxiety she felt when she planted in the spring and then left for a summer-long vacation. Her garden was on her mind for much of the trip. When she returned she saw it was overrun with weeds as she had feared, but there was also a fine array of vegetables.

A gardener describes how she is tempted to purchase items from garden-supply catalogs because they are presented so well. Gardening requires just a few hand tools, but she is tempted to buy an English-style garden fork shown in one of the mail-order catalogs.
