Looking south: North Africa may hold key to Europe's future
Article Abstract:
One cause of the present friction between northern and southern Europe is the disagreement over which area European Union (EU) should focus economic aid. The north opt for the Warsaw Pact states, while the south favor North African nations. Reasons for favoring the Maghreb states range from fear through farsightedness to simple geography.

Article Abstract:
Northern Ireland is recognizing its Irish identity while Irish republicans are realizing that winning the Northern Irish to their side is better than coercing them. Both groups still hold their irreconcilable differences. The peace process could become an end in itself, not a means to one.
