The Superbowl of Birding

Article Abstract:

The Massachusetts Audubon Society's Joppa Flats Education Center in Newburyport hosts Superbowl of Birding every January, which is a competition between, teams to accumulate as many species and points as possible within the competition's boundaries. Each species is worth between 1 and 5 points, depending on its relative rarity during winter.

Article Abstract:

The annexation activity exhibited by the Mashantucket Pequot nation on the lands of Ledyard, Preston and North Stonington in Connecticut, does not stem from any intention to preserve their native culture but more on the potential use of the land for business activity, such as the construction of casinos and hotels.
