The worst weather disaster in New England history

It was a July heat wave in 1911 which took more lives than any weather disaster in the region's history. Temperatures stayed over or near 100 over the first ten days of the month, with a high of 106 on the Fourth. Over 1,100 death certificates in Massachusetts listed heat as the probable cause.
