Article Abstract:

The Death with Dignity Act, went into effect in Oregon in 1997 as a result of which if two physicians certify that the a person has less than six months to live, a mentally competent, terminally ill adult Oregon resident who can request medicine to assist in dying. The debate over PAS touches nearly every hot button that is - religion, economics and the government's rights.

Article Abstract:

Oregon's Death with Dignity Act which legalizes physician assisted suicide, continue to come under attack by U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft. Oregon's federal district court ruled against Ashcroft, but the matter could eventually reach the U.S. Supreme Court. The article discusses several people and their opinions about the law.
