When a law goes haywire

Article Abstract:

The Endangered Species Act of 1973 may sometimes prove to be too harsh to people, especially to those who are homeless. Since the law is all-encompassing, it may deny resources to human beings since the animals need them. It lacks the flexibility to balance human costs and ecological benefits.

Murder in Logan County

Article Abstract:

Heavy equipment operator Eddie York was shot dead while working on a coal mine in Logan County, WV, during a UMW strike. Several strikers were indicted but only Jerry Dale Lowe was found guilty and sentenced to 11 years in prison.
