Who holds the clicker? A neural implant gives a mentally ill man relief- and his doctor a huge responsibility

Article Abstract:

Neural implants to treat common psychiatric problems has been used on more than 100 patients with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) suggesting the likelihood of options other than drugs may be available to sufferers of serious mental illness. Such neural implants may give the mentally ill relief but it also raises ethical questions and it is essential that such brain science innovations be protected from misuse and necessitates safeguards against abuses.

The US military is targeting young Latinos as recruitment numbers have continued to decline in 2005, with the aim of increasing Hispanic enlistment between 10 and 22 percent by 2025. Plans include putting more Spanish-speaking recruiters into the field and a multi-million media blitz designed by Hispanic advertising agencies expert at creating brand loyalty.
