Domestic pollution havens: evidence from cancer deaths in border counties

Article Abstract:

A new panel data set on cancer death rates is used to test the growth of the domestic pollution havens. The counties that border high regulation states have experienced increased death rates from cancers with an environment component as compared to the interior counties in the same low regulation states.

Clearing the air in Atlanta: transit and smart growth or conventional economics?

Article Abstract:

The proposal of expanding the existing transit network and promotion of an intensive use of the existing built-up-area to solve the problem of pollution and congestion in Atlanta is feasible, are discussed. Technology and congestion pricing are considered to be a good solution for this problem.

Article Abstract:

The tax competition problem is studied in the presence of transboundary pollution. It is shown that economic integration causes the firms to adopt the same or less polluting technologies.
