On the difference between the compensating and equivalent variations due to a change in an exogenously determined commodity

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to determine the factors influencing the difference between the compensating and equivalent variations caused by a change in an exogenously determined commodity. The necessary and sufficient variables for the difference, which were positive, zero or negative, were obtained. Results demonstrate that the crucial determinants of the difference were the exogenously fixed commodity's notional income elasticity and its notional expenditure share.

Coordinated action in local public goods models: the case of secession without exclusion

Article Abstract:

A model of secession based on non-cooperative game theory uses a modified Perfectly Coalition-Proof method that permits deviations within a situation that is self-regulating and copes with threats of coordinated exit. The condition of cooption by society by members who threaten to secede from a coalition is excluded as a way of discouraging members from unduly indulging in such coordinated disruptive activities.
