California's homegrown activist machine MoveOn, which began in Berkeley, has become a nation wide movement that rallies millions of liberal political activists via the Internet. MoveOn brings together grassroots political activism with high-profile media campaigns and celebrity events that enable participants to connect to something larger.

Fulfilling the UC promise

Article Abstract:

A profile is presented of Robert Dynes who took over as president of the University of California on October 2, 2003. Dynes has taken many challenges to fulfill the UC promise amongst which the most daunting are shrinking budgets and growing population.
