The vices of nationalism

Article Abstract:

Nationalism has made a dramatic resurgence since the end of the Cold War, as the false unities imposed by Marxist hegemony have given way to the native animosities of Eastern Europe. In western Europe as well, xenophobic, separatist and otherwise nationalist parties have achieved recent successes. The movement of huge numbers of refugees has become one of the defining problems of international relations. The truth of the interdependence among nations is illustrated, however, in the international consortiums formed among corporations and the efforts to implement NAFTA.

The impact of the information revolution on parliamentary sovereignties

Article Abstract:

The information revolution that is spurring globalization has resulted in an increase of disinformation, undercomprehensive societies, and an inability to trace causality. As more knowledge becomes available less is accessible or comprehensible to the average human mind, leading to political bodies that are not truly democratic. A breakdown in human communications has resulted and people are being directed by the manipulators of the media. Political education should teach people to recognize the causality in a globalized political spectrum.

The present relevance of Kant's 'Perpetual Peace.'

Article Abstract:

Philosophers have consistently ridiculed the utopian predictions in Immanuel Kant's 'Perpetual Peace.' However, the present global interdependence and scientific technological information revolution parallel much of what was in his essay. Though the world has been at war consistently during the almost 200 years since Kant wrote his essay, now, as the essay approaches its bicentennial, the nations are beginning to establish the globally integrated society which was forecasted in the essay.
