Tightening a welfare system: the effects of benefit denial on future welfare receipt
Article Abstract:
The study uses data from a unique experiment to analyze the effects of denying access to welfare benefits at a point in time on future welfare use. The instrument in the study allows focusing on the specific set of applicants who are most likely to be affected by tightening the system.
