Article Abstract:

The literature on regulatory policy design in the presence of asymmetric information admits several solutions with very different properties. A simple model that admits the several key models as special cases, and a common approach to solving these models, and the key differences and similarities with these models are explained.

Risk and capital structure in the regulated firm

Article Abstract:

The role of capital structure in a regulated firm, and its affect on the prices set by the regulator are studied. It is identified that the price cap mechanism that permits no cost sharing between shareholders and consumers, is sub-optimal.
