Watching the skies: cloudy or clear?
Article Abstract:
Economic experts forecast strong economic growth in California in 1998. They predict that the state's economy will be bolstered by continued job growth and low unemployment. The economic turmoil in Asia, characterized by declining stock markets, low consumer confidence, low employment and retreat of foreign investors, is not expected to affect the local economy too seriously. However, most economists remain alert to Asian developments and predict that the Asian crisis will slightly dampen California's economic prospects.
