An applied master's degree curriculum for health services administrators in the 1990's
Article Abstract:
A curriculum review was undertaken by Central Michigan University for its Master of Science degree in Health Administration, with use of the views of a consultant, alumni, employers, and faculty. The university offers the 36 semester hour program on campus and also at around 50 off-campus locations throughout the US. A consensus was reached that the curriculum should emphasize basic managerial skills, include additional work on data gathering and analysis, synthesis and communication, and strengthen strategic planning competencies. The curricular evaluation process, as well as the recommendations and changes resulting are discussed.
