Competition spurs Carondelet hospitals to launch branding campaign

Article Abstract:

St. Joseph Health Center in Kansas City, MO, and St. Mary's Hospital in Blue Springs, MO, two affiliates of Carondelet Health System, made an initiative toward addressing increased in the marketplace with the recent launch of a branding campaign. The hospitals used the campaign to let the public know that being Catholic entities set them apart from other hospitals. The campaign components included print ads, TV and radio spots, and direct mail that feature two nuns, Sister Rosemary Flanigan and Sister Mary Kay Hadican.

UCLA established new fetal medicine center

Article Abstract:

Mattel Children's Hospital at the University of California (UCLA) has collaborated with UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, CA, to build the Fetal Medicine Center. The facility aims to help expectant mothers whose unborn infants have been diagnosed with serious medical problems prior to birth. It provides high-risk obstetrical care to both mother and unborn infant, as well as easy access to all pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties that the baby may require immediately upon birth.

Temple University Health System to reorganize three hospitals

Article Abstract:

The Temple University Health System in Philadelphia, PA, has allotted $43 million for the reorganization of the Episcopal Hospital, the Neumann Medical Center and the Northeastern Hospital. The plan, which will result in the layoff of less than 100 of the system's 10,000 workers, calls for the reorganization of hospital services among the different facilities as well as the establishment of a community-based health system.
