Dysrhythmia update

Article Abstract:

A case history of a 75-year-old man who had developed heart block with intermittent conduction following mitral valve replacement and clinical implications are discussed. Evidence of the normal sequence of atrial and ventricular contraction was given by a simultaneously recorded central venous pressure (CVP) trace. Episodes of ventricular contraction preceded atrial contraction and episodes of simultaneous atrial and ventricular contraction. Analysis of the dysrhythmia and CVP trace are given.

Dysrhythmia update

Article Abstract:

A case study of an 85-year old woman with atrial fibrillation is examined. A pacemaker was inserted in the patient following dysrhythmia and stroke symptoms. Evaluation of pacemaker functioning was made with electrocardiograms and consideration of the placement of the pacer wires, insertion time, and location of pacer spikes. Though initially the patient continued to exhibit atrial fibrillation, her condition improved with ongoing anticoagulant drug therapy.

Article Abstract:

A case study of a patient requiring a dual chamber rate responsive pacemaker is presented. The 85 year old patient suffered from atrial fibrillation and her condition grew more complicated following a dose of propafenone. A pacemaker was inserted to manage the fibrillation.
