Laser-Doppler imaging assessment of skin hyperemia as an indicator of trauma after adhesive strip removal
Article Abstract:
Laser-Doppler perfusion imaging (LDI) is a useful tool in measuring skin trauma after removal of adhesive strips and determining levels of force used to remove the strips. An examination, using LDI, of blood perfusion in the skin before and after removal of adhesive strips and an analysis of skin perfusion levels and peel force determined a direct relationship between skin trauma and peel force. Lessening peel force can be achieved using adhesive remover product.

Pressure and blood flow linkages and impacts on pressure ulcer development
Article Abstract:
Research has shown that blood vessels can adapt to pressure but this adaptation may be limited. In several studies, pressure on the skin caused an initial drop in perfusion, which then increased to preload levels. Sensors in the vascular wall sense the pressure and cause the release of nitric oxide, which dilates the blood vessel. An absence of this adaptation was associated with the development of ulcers.
