Mathematical programming for the efficient allocation of health care resources
Article Abstract:
Unnecessarily restrictive assumptions have been used in previous discussions of methods for the efficient allocation of health care resources subject to a budget constraint. Established optimization techniques were employed to show that a general mathematical programming framework can accommodate more complex information concerning returns to scale, partial and complete indivisibility and program interdependence.

Axioms for health care resource allocation
Article Abstract:
A study on health care resource allocation based on axioms for individual preferences and distributive justice, is presented. Based on these, other axioms are established. While one of them is for representing individual preferences by quality adjusted life years (QALY), the other is for existence of a social welfare function depending only on QALY.
