Operation start-up

Article Abstract:

Involving physicians in the development process has made MediGold a rapid success, gaining the provider-sponsored health plan 5,000 members in six months. MediGold is an HMO developed by Mount Carmel Health System as one of 19 Medicare Choices demonstration projects. Administrators collaborated with doctors in creating networks, a bonus system and a benefits package. Doctors also helped set management policies such as practice guidelines and cost controls. Physicians helped market the new plan by sending affiliation announcements to their patients.
