Prevention of infections related to central venous catheters
Article Abstract:
Several nursing strategies may effectively reduce the number of infections at central venous catheter (CVC) sites among critically ill patients. These include careful attention to sterile technique when inserting a CVC, minimizing the number of CVC and tube changes, and routinely cleaning and changing the dressing at the insertion site. Different wound dressings have been proposed to reduce infection rates. CVC site care can be better evaluated when care is done consistently.

Management of wounds and wound infections in the intensive care unit
Article Abstract:
Critically ill patients with infectious wounds may require specially tailored treatment strategies. Factors affecting wound care in these patients include the patient's underlying condition, the extent of the infection, or complicating wound conditions. Careful monitoring of these wounds and timely intervention for unresponsive patients can improve wound healing and patient recovery. An overview of proper wound healing is presented.
