Supplier inducement in a public health care system
Article Abstract:
A theoretical model has been developed to determine whether supplier inducements exist for contract physicians and community physicians in Norway. The model was applied in the analysis of aggregated and micro data which contain information on physician initiated visits as well as the expenditure on laboratory tests provided by contract physicians per inhabitant within their respective municipalities. Results supplier inducement effects exist only for provision of laboratory tests.
