A new method for screening anti-infective biomaterials

Article Abstract:

This article describes a microplate-based procedure for testing antimicrobial activity of biomaterials including silver polymers which can not be tested with conventional techniques. Features and adaptability of the method to different biomaterials along with an analysis of antimicrobial activity of silver polymers is discussed.

Efficient presentation of exogenous antigen by liver endothelial cells to CD8+ T cells results in antigen-specific T-cell tolerance

Article Abstract:

Research shows that liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSEC) are non-myeloid, organ-resident myeloid antigen-presenting cells that are able to cross-present to CD8+ T cells soluble exogenous antigen. This indicates that cross-presentation results not in T cell immunity but tolerance.

Regression of human metastatic renal cell carcinoma after vaccination with tumor cell-dendritic cell hybrids

Article Abstract:

This study shows how renal cell carcinoma has regressed after vaccination with hybrids of dendritic and tumor cells. Hybrid cell vaccination is probably a safe, effective therapy for renal cell carcinoma.
