A prospective randomized trial comparing tension-free vaginal tape and transobturator suburethral tape for surgical treatment of stress urinary incontinence

Article Abstract:

A prospective randomized trial comparing tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) with transobturator suburethral tape (T.O.T.) for the surgical treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in women is presented. The T.O.T. appears to be equally efficient as TVT for surgical treatment of stress urinary incontinence in women, with no reduction of bladder outlet obstruction at one-year follow-up.

Effects of Burch colposuspension on the relative positions of the bladder neck to the levator ani muscle: an observational study that used magnetic resonance imaging

Article Abstract:

The use of magnetic resonance imaging to observe the changes of the position of the levator ani muscle relative to the bladder neck after Burch colposuspension is explained. The anatomy of the levator ani muscle is changed by colposuspension and the apposition of the muscle to the bladder neck plays a major role in the restoration of continence.

A randomized comparison of tension-free vaginal tape and endopelvic fascia plication in women with genital prolapse and occult stress urinary incontinence

Article Abstract:

The two anti-incontinence (tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) and bladder neck endopelvic fascia plication) procedures in women who had severe genital prolapse and potential stress incontinence are compared in a randomized clinical trial. The tension-free vaginal tape can be recommended for patients with prolapse and occult stress incontinence.
