Accurate documentation

Article Abstract:

It is important for nurses to have a detailed knowledge of anatomy, as this ensures that they can record and communicate accurately when dealing with lesions. Anatomical markers include the elbow, wrist, tibia, fibula and humerus. In the pelvis, the structures vulnerable to pressure damage include the coccyx, sacrum and ischium. When describing wounds on the thorax, a key landmark is the manubriosternal junction, or angle of Louis. An accurate description of findings made when assessing a patient is vital if colleagues are to locate wounds effectively.
