Developmental pharmacology -- drug disposition, action, and therapy in infants and children

Article Abstract:

The metabolism of drugs in babies and young children is reviewed. Topics include absorption of drugs, distribution of drugs, drug metabolism, renal elimination of drugs, pharmacodynamics, and age-specific dosing regimens. Includes information about developmental changes that affect drug disposition and age-specific dosages of drugs commonly given to children.

Drug addiction

Article Abstract:

The physiology of drug addiction is reviewed. Topics include factors influencing drug abuse, drug effects and mechanisms of action, neurobiology, and neuroadaptation to long-term drug use. Drug abuse can cause structural changes in the brain, which makes long-term treatment so challenging.
