Long-term Effects of an Early Childhood Intervention on Educational Achievement and Juvenile Arrest: A 15-Year Follow-up of Low-Income Children in Public Schools

Article Abstract:

Early childhood educational programs for poor children in public schools can have a significant impact, according to a 15-year study of the Chicago Child-Parent Center Program. Children who received the intervention were more likely to finish high school, and had lower rates of juvenile arrests and arrests for violent crimes.

Recognizing the Public Health Impact of Genocide

Article Abstract:

A closer collaboration between human rights organizations and public health officials could reduce the health impact of genocide. Health care professionals could provide emergency services to impacted populations and, if necessary, lobby for immediate military intervention.
