Adaptive immune cells temper initial innate responses

Article Abstract:

Studies conducted suggest that T cell-mediated inhibition of the innate response might be important for the pathogenesis of acute infection. The concept of an unleashed innate response in the absence of adaptive modulation might lead to new diagnosis and treatment for individuals with congenital or acquired immune deficiency.

Cellular microRNAs contribute to HIV-1 latency in resting primary [CD4.sup.} T lymphocytes

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to show that cellular microRNA (miRNAs) potently inhibit HIV-1 production in resting primary [CD4.sup.} T cells. The results indicate that miRNAs are pivotal in HIV-1 latency and could be useful approach for treating the HIV-1 reservoir.

Keeping quiet: microRNAs in HIV-1 latency

Article Abstract:

The specific antisense inhibitors of microRNAs involved in maintaining HIV-1 latency could induce virus production in resting T cells. These findings could be used to develop a new therapy targeted towards purging the latent reservoir.
