Aerosols and splatter in dentistry

Article Abstract:

The production of aerosols and droplets during many dental procedures, which causes severe diseases, and methods of reducing airborne contamination are discussed. The risk posed by dental aerosols can be eliminated by using universal barrier precautions, pre-procedural rinse before the treatment, using of rubber dam where ever possible and using of high-volume evacuator for all procedures.

Aspiration and ingestion in dental practice: A 10-year institutional review

Article Abstract:

An institutional retrospective review of incidents involving aspiration and ingestion of dental foreign objects at a large multidisciplinary dental educational facility is given. The results indicate that ingestions are more prevalent outcome than aspiration.

Is there an association between occlusion and periodontal destruction?: yes-occlusal forces can contribute to periodontal destruction

Article Abstract:

The role of dental occlusion in causing peridontal diseases is studied. Evidence was obtained through research on animals like squirrel monkeys as well as humans.
