An analysis of preventive dental visits by provider type, 1996

Article Abstract:

Preventive dental visit utilization patterns are examined by analyzing the receipt of preventive dental services in United States by type of dental provider. Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS) data showed that people's socioeconomic background and other demographic factors were associated with having a preventive dental visit with a dentist or dental hygienist.

Dental visits among older U.S. adults, 1999: the roles of dentition status and cost

Article Abstract:

The data from the 1999 National Health Interview Survey was used to describe dental visit patterns among the U.S. adults aged fifty-five years or older. The results indicated that most of the people, who visited a dentist, went for a diagnostic/preventive procedure, while most of those who did not visit a dentist, did not recognize the need to do so.

The impact of income on children's and adolescents' preventive dental visits

Article Abstract:

Poor children are less likely to receive preventive dental care than children in upper income brackets. States must do more to encourage Medicaid-eligible families to enroll in Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).
