Aprotinin during coronary-artery bypass grafting and risk of death

Article Abstract:

A study to examine whether the use of Aprotinin during coronary-artery bypass grafting surgery can lead to in-hospital death is conducted. Results conclude that those patients that were administered Aprotinin on the day of surgery had a greater risk of mortality as compared to those who were not given Aprotinin.

The article discusses the efficacy of Aprotinin, a drug for use in coronary-artery bypass grafting after observing that it results in an increased mortality rate. Suggestions are made for mandatory trials to test the efficacy of any new drugs that may be dangerous in the long run and lead to mortality.

The effect of Aprotinin on outcome after coronary-artery bypass grafting

Article Abstract:

A study to examine the resulting outcome after the use of Aprotinin on patients having undergone coronary-artery bypass grafting surgery is conducted. Results indicate that those patients that were given Aprotinin had a higher mortality rate and increases in serum creatinine levels.
