Two authors debate whether nurses from lower classes have less chance of career growth and whether nursing itself is considered a working class profession. One author believes this is generally true, the other believes that nurses do not get the respect they deserve because as a heavily female profession, they face the effects of sexism.

Sensible reporting of many health related issues is a rarity, passed over in favour of sensationalist, viewer-grabbing headlines that serve to clarify and to confuse or to provide false hope in the general press. Further, the nurses constantly pay the price for the misleading and contradicting inaccuracies of the media.
