Asbestos registers 'essential.'

Article Abstract:

Exposure to white asbestos can bring increased risk of mesothelioma, asbestosis and lung cancer, according to a summary report from the World Health Organisation. This issue is already being addressed by the UK government, which is to go ahead with plans to oblige owners and occupiers of buildings to ascertain whether asbestos is present. The government also plans to force employers to make their staff aware of the dangers of asbestos in general. It is estimated that 70% of commercial buildings in the UK contain asbestos in some form.
