Asian women's attitudes to breast self-examination

Article Abstract:

There are suggestions that a woman is more likely to practise breast self-examination (BSE) if she sees herself as at risk. However there are some findings that BSE is no more effective that breast awareness (BA). A study of 48 Asian women aged between 15-60 found that the majority did not practise BSE and several had not heard of BSE. Most had not heard about BA. The majority preferred a female GP for an examination.

Guidelines for promoting breast care awareness

Article Abstract:

It is important that women continue to be responsible for notingchanges in their breasts, as around 90% of breast cancers are found by women themselves ortheir partners. Breast care nurses can discuss breast care awareness with women at symptomaticclinics, but they should also find ways of targeting women who currently do not have breastproblems but require education to prevent advanced breast disease.

Reviewing attitudes to self-medication

Article Abstract:

A study looked into patients' views on self-medication and their opinions on the existing system of having medication administered by hospital staff. Some 46 patients were included in the study, of which 4/5 favoured administration by hospital staff.
