Pregnancies in Tanzania can be fraught with peril. Many rural residents of the country will seek local health services, which can range from western-style services to spirit mediums and native healers. Distances from health care facilities, poverty, and the low status of poorer women contribute to the risks faced by a pregnant Tanzanian.

Challenge in Tanzania

A Himalayan challenge
