Changing care patterns and registered nurse job satisfaction

Article Abstract:

Restructuring health care delivery systems may coincide with nurses feeling dissatisfied with their jobs. Two hundred thirty-one nurses at a 430-bed hospital completed a job satisfaction questionnaire before a hospital-wide restructuring occurred. The most significant overall factor associated with job satisfaction was the nurses' perception of professional status. Management policy was the least significant factor associated with job satisfaction. Current overall job satisfaction for these participants was low.

Battered women's perceptions of loss and health

Article Abstract:

The care of the battered woman should look at them as people who have experienced loss and are in the process of grieving and changing. Their behavior can be described as unresolved grief taking the form of multiple losses, that of role, of self-esteem, of security as well as anticipatory losses. The health of abused women improved as they spend time away from the abusive situation. This was evidenced by reduced perceptions of loss and negative ideas about health.
