Beyond Red Lake-The persistent crisis in American Indian health care

Article Abstract:

The Public Health Service hospital in rural Arizona observe high rates of poverty, alcoholism, unemployment and violence among American Indians and Alaska Natives. The federal government is blamed for its failure to sufficiently fund the Indian Health Service, and hopes that following the incidence of the Red Lake shooting by a depressed American Indian native, the government would come forward to tackle the chronic problem of healthcare among these downtrodden Indians.
