Blood pressure measurements help with assessment of a patient's cardiovascular status reflecting pressure exerted by blood on the wall of blood vessels. The health care worker measuring blood pressure must receive proper training and complete supervised practice. It is the individual's responsibility to ensure their theoretical and practical knowledge and skills are maintained and also see that the local protocols and guidelines are being followed at all times.
