Blood vitamins and lipid levels in overweight and obese women

Article Abstract:

Research determined that obese women have lower levels of anti-oxidant vitamins and higher lipid levels compared to non-obese individuals. They also have a higher predisposition to dyslipoproteinemia and high blood pressure, although a negative correlation was established between body mass index values and cholesterol levels. Vitamin deficiency was found to be more prevalent in overweight women, but overt and borderline deficiency has harmful health indications to both groups. Inverse correlation between ascorbic acid and blood pressure levels was confirmed.
