Body mass index, ageing and differential reported morbidity in rural Sarawak

Article Abstract:

The relationship of body mass index (BMI), determinant of adult low energy nutritional status derived from weight over the square of height, between and age and sex and reported morbidity were studied in a group 447 men and 564 women over 18 years old belonging to the Iban tribe of central Sarawak,East Malaysia. BMI was noted to influence reported morbidity for men over 40 and in women from 18-40 years old and that BMI was indirectly propotional to age in both sexes.

The realization of a project aimed at reducing the plasmatic lipid level in a large Italian population improves the mean calcium daily intake: the Brisighella study

Article Abstract:

Research describing the impact of cholesterol and saturated fats in the diet of the people of the Italian village of Brisighella is presented. The tests have found that an educational program encouraging the lowering of saturated fats and cholesterol resulted in an increase in calcium intake.

Effects of reduced energy intake on the biology of aging: the primate model

Article Abstract:

Restricting calorie intake has been found to slow down aging in rhesus and squirrel monkeys. In humans, reduced energy intake is likely to be most beneficial in terms of minimizing the incidence and severity of age-connected diseases.
