Cancer stem cells: Models and concepts

Article Abstract:

Cancer cells are identified as monoclonal, heterogeneous, and tridimensional, thus the stem cell model, first developed in human myeloid leukemias, is being extended to solid tumors, such as breast and brain cancer. The biological basis and the therapeutic implications of the stem cell model of cancer are reviewed.

The biomedical challenges of space flight

Article Abstract:

This review discusses about the research in space medicine and its impact on the safety of astronauts and cosmonauts and success of future space missions. Research addresses the health effects of adaptaion to microgravity, pharmacodynamics changes, monitoring spacecraft environment and its personnel.
