Changing attitudes

Article Abstract:

There are different levels of racial harassment, according to Mike Collins, programme director of the UK National Health Service's (NHS) campaign against racial harassment. He states that much racial harassment, particularly among work colleagues, is subtle. He believes that this can have a negative long-term impact on the health and self-confidence of black employees. He emphasizes that the NHS Executive regional offices will take action against trusts that fail to take the issue of racism seriously.

She also feels that the carer often gets forgotten with everything revolving around the patient. The wife of the stroke patient describes how the outreach nurse has a natural empathy and how she makes a lot of difference to people's lives.
