The Arthritis, Rheumatism, and Aging Medical Information System (ARAMIS) is a good model for a chronic disease database that can be used to evaluate treatments. Since 1976, ARAMIS has collected detailed information on 6,673 rheumatoid arthritis patients with over 50,000 patient-years of follow-up.
