Is the extinction crisis real?
Article Abstract:
People who doubt that the extinction of species has reached a crisis level should take note of recent studies of the effects of habitat loss on the world's biodiversity. Scientists have determined that for a 90% reduction in habitat, the number of species that can be supported in an area is roughly halved. The loss of species threatens all biological assets, including the aesthetic and economic. With habitat destruction increasing annually some predict a million species may be lost by the turn of the century.

What's happened to the media?
Article Abstract:
Television news shows, which have historically not been money-makers, are now under as much pressure as other programs to make a profit for TV networks. This is one of the causes of a decline in the quality of television journalism. The increased popularity of panel discussions on news shows also encourages journalists to think fast and say the first thing that comes to mind, rather than carefully researching and thinking over pieces the way that print journalists do.
